Where to Go for Happy Hour in Singapore? A Simple Guide to After-Work Drinks
Where to Go for Happy Hour in Singapore? Be it at Tanglin Cookhouse
Go for happy hour somewhere close to work or home, with deals that run long enough for your plans and food to go with the drinks. Tanglin Cookhouse runs an all-day Happy Hour from Monday to Friday at Tanglin Mall and Paya Lebar Quarter, with $7 wine, 1-for-1 cocktails, $9 pints of beer and a bucket of 3 for $32.
What Makes a Good Happy Hour?
The best happy hour is the one you can actually make. Many deals end early in the evening, which is hard if you finish work late. A good one also gives you a choice of drinks and a proper menu, so after-work drinks can turn into dinner without moving venues. Look for:
Long hours: an all-day deal means you do not have to rush from the office.
Variety: wine, cocktails and beer, so everyone in the group finds something.
Food: a full menu for sharing plates or dinner.
An easy location: close to an MRT station or near home.

How Do You Enjoy Happy Hour Responsibly?
Pace yourself and eat while you drink. Singapore's Ministry of Health recommends no more than two standard drinks a day for men and one for women (Ministry of Health). A happy hour at a licensed restaurant is also the simple choice after dark: drinking in public places is not allowed from 10.30pm to 7am, while licensed premises can serve within their licence hours (Ministry of Home Affairs). If you are drinking, leave the car and take a taxi or public transport home.
